IRC Help
Though this site has a web client to get on the #ucpmpickup channel, we suggest that you download mIRC to access the channel.
1. To start off with, when you open mIRC, you'll be prompted with a screen that looks like this:
If you dont see this screen, you can click on "File" and "Select Server"
2. Fill out the information and remember "Nickname" or "nick" is the name that others will be able to see you as. After you finish with that, click on "Servers" and scroll to "Quakenet" as that is the network that handles the USCPMPickup channel. Scroll through the server list until you reach Quakenet:
3. Double-click the respective option that best suites you. After you've chosen a server you want to connect to Quakenet through, click on "Options" under "Servers":
4. We want to make sure "Connect on Startup" is checked. Now click on "Perform", you should see this:
Make sure you have checked "Enable perform on connect" and click the "Add" button. Scroll down to select "Quakenet" and hit "Ok". In the "Perform commands" textbox please enter the following:
/join #uscpmpickup
Next, let's setup a Quakenet account . Go back to the screen that you saw in Step 1 and hit the "Connect" button. You should see a screen that looks like this:
So let's setup your Quakenet auth account now. You can do that by going to this link and following the instructions. After doing that, go back to step 4 and enter the following before the "join" line that we previously entered:
/msg Q@CServe.quakenet.org auth username password
You will of course use the username and password that you used to setup your Quakenet auth account. Close and reopen mIRC and it should automatically connect to Quakenet, auth you and join the #uscpmpickup channel. Horray. You the best mang you deed it.
